O trabalho, divulgado no World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, aponta que a enzima KaPgaB \u00e9 capaz de degradar de forma intensa os biofilmes que servem como escudo protetor para a bact\u00e9ria, reduzindo a efic\u00e1cia dos antibi\u00f3ticos tradicionais.<\/p>\n<p>O Staphylococcus aureus \u00e9 um dos principais respons\u00e1veis por infec\u00e7\u00f5es em pele, ferimentos e sistemas respirat\u00f3rios. Sua maior defesa \u00e9 justamente a capacidade de criar biofilmes \u2013 estruturas aderentes que dificultam o alcance dos medicamentos. De acordo com os autores, romper essa camada \u00e9 uma etapa decisiva para enfraquecer a resist\u00eancia do microrganismo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fenati.org.br\/consumo-energia-data-centers-triplicar-aciona-alerta\/\"><strong>LEIA: Consumo de energia por data centers deve triplicar e aciona alerta em \u00f3rg\u00e3os reguladores<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A KaPgaB, originalmente identificada na bact\u00e9ria Klebsiella aerogenes, foi reproduzida em laborat\u00f3rio e aplicada sobre diferentes linhagens de Staphylococcus aureus, inclusive variantes resistentes a antibi\u00f3ticos usados na pr\u00e1tica cl\u00ednica.<\/p>\n<p>Os testes apresentaram resultados robustos: em alguns cen\u00e1rios, a enzima conseguiu eliminar mais de 80% do biofilme em quatro horas. Quando combinada a outras enzimas, como DNase I ou papa\u00edna, a remo\u00e7\u00e3o atingiu 97%.<\/p>\n<p>O estudo tamb\u00e9m demonstrou que a a\u00e7\u00e3o da KaPgaB pode potencializar o desempenho de antibi\u00f3ticos. Sozinhos, os medicamentos tiveram baixa efic\u00e1cia contra bact\u00e9rias protegidas pelo biofilme. No entanto, ap\u00f3s a aplica\u00e7\u00e3o da enzima, a quantidade de c\u00e9lulas vivas caiu pela metade em alguns testes, refor\u00e7ando o valor da abordagem combinada.<\/p>\n<h4>Principais destaques da KaPgaB<\/h4>\n<p>* Remove at\u00e9 97% da camada de biofilme<br \/>\n* Impede a forma\u00e7\u00e3o de novas estruturas em at\u00e9 96%<br \/>\n* Amplia a efici\u00eancia de antibi\u00f3ticos ap\u00f3s sua a\u00e7\u00e3o<br \/>\n* Indica potencial para tratar infec\u00e7\u00f5es prolongadas<\/p>\n<p>Os pesquisadores destacam que a enzima tem potencial para integrar, no futuro, protocolos de tratamento de infec\u00e7\u00f5es associadas \u00e0 forma\u00e7\u00e3o de biofilmes \u2014 problema frequente em dispositivos m\u00e9dicos como curativos e cateteres.
