A inova\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 t\u00e3o significativa que o sistema final pode ser enviado como um simples anexo de e-mail.<\/p>\n<p>Liderado pelo laborat\u00f3rio Cold Spring Harbor, em parceria com as universidades Carnegie Mellon e Princeton, o projeto nasceu de uma pergunta fundamental: como os primatas conseguem interpretar o mundo visual com efici\u00eancia, consumindo uma quantidade m\u00ednima de energia, enquanto os sistemas artificiais modernos demandam infraestrutura pesada e recursos industriais?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fenati.org.br\/com-apoio-fim-da-escala-6x1-ganhos-sociais-conomicos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Leia: Com amplo apoio popular, fim da escala 6\u00d71 pode trazer ganhos sociais e econ\u00f4micos<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Para responder, os pesquisadores direcionaram seu foco \u00e0 \u00e1rea V4 do c\u00e9rebro dos primatas, uma regi\u00e3o essencial para a identifica\u00e7\u00e3o de cores, curvas e texturas. Utilizando registros de neur\u00f4nios de macacos rhesus, coletados enquanto os animais observavam imagens naturais, a equipe buscou criar uma ponte entre a atividade cerebral real e a representa\u00e7\u00e3o computacional.<\/p>\n<p>O experimento come\u00e7ou com a constru\u00e7\u00e3o de um modelo complexo, treinado para prever as rea\u00e7\u00f5es de neur\u00f4nios individuais a cada imagem. Essa primeira vers\u00e3o, com cerca de 60 milh\u00f5es de par\u00e2metros, j\u00e1 superava sistemas anteriores, mas o avan\u00e7o decisivo veio na etapa seguinte: a compress\u00e3o. Por meio de t\u00e9cnicas espec\u00edficas, os cientistas reduziram a arquitetura para redes com aproximadamente 10 mil par\u00e2metros cada, uma diminui\u00e7\u00e3o de 1\/5.000 do tamanho original.<\/p>\n<p>Longe de perder a utilidade, o modelo miniaturizado revelou uma vantagem inesperada, a transpar\u00eancia. Cada pequena rede foi treinada para prever o comportamento de um \u00fanico neur\u00f4nio, permitindo que os pesquisadores rastreassem quais caracter\u00edsticas visuais ativavam cada c\u00e9lula. Foi poss\u00edvel observar que as primeiras camadas atuavam como detectores de bordas e cores, enquanto as seguintes combinavam essas informa\u00e7\u00f5es em prefer\u00eancias mais especializadas. Na pr\u00e1tica, o sistema permitiu desmontar a chamada \u201ccaixa-preta\u201d da IA oferecendo a possibilidade de rastrear e interpretar.<\/p>\n<p>As implica\u00e7\u00f5es do estudo, no entanto, v\u00e3o al\u00e9m da ci\u00eancia da computa\u00e7\u00e3o. Ao reproduzir aspectos da comunica\u00e7\u00e3o entre neur\u00f4nios, o modelo abre uma brecha promissora para o estudo de <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Neurodegenerative_disease\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">doen\u00e7as neurodegenerativas<\/a>, como o Alzheimer.
